ENGRAM FILM PRODUKCIOS KFT.
Engram Film an independent production and distribution company was founded in 1995 with the aim of creating quality films and television productions.
The firm wishes to focus on creative thought and originality of form and is open to all topics and genres. In setting up a project a great deal of emphasis is placed on international co- production.
The first major, feature-length film, directed by Ferenc Moldoványi and completed in 1997, was a French-Hungarian co-production titled "The Way" made for CANAL+, BRTN and Hungarian Television supported by Eurimages.
The Way world premiered in Locarno and was presented at more than 30 international film festivals and won 10 prizes. It was also released in cinemas in Hungary and broadcast by several channels in Hungary and abroad. The film was also released on DVD.
Our second feature documentary production “Children, Kosovo 2000”, completed in 2001, was also made in international co-production and was supported by UNICEF New York HQ and Sundance Documentary Fund. This feature documentary also directed and produced by Ferenc Moldoványi had its world premiere at the 51st Berlinale in the International Forum of New Cinema section and has been screened at more than 51 festivals in 34 countries and won 7 awards. The film was also released on DVD.
Our third and last film “Another Planet” was made in international co-production with the participation of 8 television channels and also supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union both by the Development and the TV Distribution Fund. It was completed at the end of 2007 and it participated in 73 film festivals in 46 countries and won 19 awards. This work was also nationally released in cinemas in Hungary and broadcast by various TV channels in Hungary and abroad. The DVD will soon be available.
In sum our productions have participated in more than 150 film festivals world-wide on five continents and have won 35 prizes so far. Besides Hungarian Television our films were broadcast by French and Belgian Canal+, RTBF and by Sundance Channel in the USA, distributed in Mexico and Denmark and distributed in a Budapest cinema. Besides producing its own films, the firm supplies services to foreign crews shooting in Hungary.
